A relatively new company, Choice Import Agencies was established in 2009 to reflect a new direction for current co-owner Gord Whyte, from his former company in which he was a principal for over six years. During his tenure as General Manager, this agency had very good relationships with both suppliers and customers, and maintained a solid credit rating.

In collaboration with another successful long-time wine industry professional, Robert Michael Smith, the team quickly moved to re-establish their considerable network of suppliers, customers and industry contacts under the new Choice Imports banner.

Choice Imports applies a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion in the wine business, providing evaluation, procurement, placement and marketing support services to suppliers and clients, as well as professional liaison services in dealings with provincial liquor boards and private sector customers. On the wholesale side, Choice brings an extensive database of customer contacts in both the ever-growing private on-trade sector and the public (government monopoly) system, along with many other valuable professional affiliations throughout the industry.

Beyond this, Choice Imports has demonstrated success in the marketing of represented products by providing dynamic sales and promotion of products to ensure continued success and long term growth. Sales staff make frequent visits to liquor store clients to detail shelf presentation, produce and display promotional material, and co-ordinate in-store tastings. Other functions include representation at regular trade show and specialty events, and ongoing communication with licensees, hotels, restaurants, bars and other institutions.

Gordon Whyte, General Manager

Gordon has diplomas in Systems Management, Communications and other administrative fields and has broad experience in the beverage industry, in both public sector and private business environments. An extensive background in the wine trade complements his business management, logistics, technical and innovative skills, and coupled with an in-depth knowledge of wines and spirits ensures efficiency and success for the company and the interests of our clients.
